SCULPTURED - EMBODIMENT - THE END
Embodiment is an archetypical The End Records’ album. It is truly progressive, odd, eccentric, unusual, original and out in the left field. Sculptured is the ADD child of heavy metal. The band that can do no less than include 15 riffs per minute on every song has done the same here within longer songs - the album features five tracks - and cannot keep a straight riffs for more than three seconds. It is an amazing feat. Still, and for a moment, the lead track Taking My Body Apart sounds like a Megadeth song. Nonetheless, this is not the type of music one listens for pure enjoyment, but rather consumes for a sense of pure electrification should that be a word! Techno-metal being what it is the emotions get buried for adaptable intricacies and complexities including clean and growled passages, keyboards, twisted guitars and riffing analogous to a Swiss watch. The production helps the band with its clear disposition.
An above average mark for sure, but for pure metal feel, this writer would go with Sculptured’s affiliate band Agalloch. For twisted experimentation, however, Sculptured is the embodiment of it all. One is already looking forward to the next Sculptured album around 2014! - Ali “The Metallian”
