SKINLESS - FROM SACRIFICE TO SURVIVAL - RELAPSE
From Sacrifice To Survival doesn’t waste time and gets getting going after a very short intro. Some familiar with Skinless may be surprised to find a few clean vocal verses in the opener, The Front Line Of Sanity, but thankfully they do not re-appear often in what follows. Escalate Discord is next and presents the listener with a straightforward death metal song and Deathwork continues the trend with even heavier riffing. A False Sense Of Security starts off very much like Metallica’s One and Sanitarium and remains similar to the aforementioned in structure, inter-changing between faster and slower segments. By the time the title track approaches Skinless seem to be getting more European in sound and one can hear early Gorefest in both the sound and the music. The latter songs like Battle Perpetual Will are more enjoyable to listen to as the tempo seems to pick up a notch. The only exception to the improving songs is the re-appearance of the occasional clean vocals on Dead Conscience.
More than anything else this is pure death metal with a few grind influences, and anyone looking for fast drumming, screams, and slower sections can find a good dosage on From Sacrifice To Survival. - Anna Tergel
