SPEEED - POWERTRIP PIGS - CRASH
Speeed is an album featuring former Annihilator members Aaron Randall and Ray Hartman and Jack Frost of Seven Witches whose album was originally released around the turn of the century by Massacre Records.
The album is not far removed from what the aforementioned bands would commit to tapes, but does contain a few twists. While some of the material here is straightforward thrash metal, on occasions the band’s use of samples and synthesizers gives the music a slight industrial feeling. The fast thrash parts are obviously the better ones. Given the presence of a known guitarist the album’s lack of lead guitars is surprising. As surprising is the occasional rapping in lieu of singing. The boring slow song I Used To Believe and the cover of Ride Like The Wind are also extraneous. These are somehow balanced by the heavy riffing, chugging bass, thrashy riffs and the vocals - which can both be low or high. - Ali “The Metallian”
