Reviews THE LONDON QUIREBOYS - THIS IS ROCK'N'ROLL - SANCTUARY/EMI
England's sleaze rocking exports are back (having skipped the pain of enduring the bubble gum punk years and undergoing a slight name alteration) and I am reminded of the early nineties when the band was awash with Rolling Stones comparisons. In truth, the band is a perfect mixing of Rod Stewart and Cinderella. What that speaks of is the band's sleaze, heavy rock and the blues. The band has several great tunes with plenty of potential. Most of it is simply not hard enough for the hard rock listener, but some of it might fit in with fans of the aforementioned Cinderella and the mellower sounds of the genre. It's very well done and ultimately a slap in the face of the mass media should This Is Rock N Roll enjoy any type of success. Nix that, the band's survival and departure is a slap in itself to the nineties brainwashing - and that is cool just by itself. - Ali "The Metallian"
