THY DISEASE - RAT AGE [SWORN KINDS FINAL VERSE] - CRASH
Not sure if the album’s title is suffering under translation difficulties or what, but the band seems to have an admirable goal in mind in a concept album “about mankind’s extermination and borders of humanity.” The group is Polish. The four of them have a high skill level on their respective instruments and singer Micha stands somewhere between a growl and a grunt. The major obstacle is the cyber electronic effects and sounds. This is not quite Kryoburn or Fear Factory, thank goodness, but if any of those bands are inspirations or if Nocturnus is what has influenced the band then metal fans know trouble is not far behind. The band has decent riffs and very good lead guitars, yet the effects; beeps, boops, intros and electronic song called Unity are like a cold frost on a weekend in July. The drum sound is also a problem with its rattle-tat-tat wooden production. Furthermore, Syndicate sounds like a Slipknot song. Thy Disease’s Rat Age has so many puns built in the name and title that no more explanation is needed really. - Anna Tergel
