TJOLGTJAR - THE TJOLGTJARIAN MASS - BAPHOMET/RED STREAM
This is so bad that it could be a spinning practical joke. Could there really be a label out there that would hand over a contract to such an abysmal outfit? Tjolgtjar (allegedly pronounced toll-tar) is a one-man act attempting to feign a mixture of black metal, rock and noise. With musicianship non-existent and the department of riff quality on permanent vacation the band’s disc comes across as either someone wants to play with the listeners’ head or sent the wrong - in this case a demo that had arrived by mail - music to the duplication plant. Then again, nary a demo sounds this bad nowadays. To add insult to injury the troll in charge of this project inserts other bands’ music into the album, listen to the 1:40 mark of Exorcism Spell for instance, presumably as some kind of a joke. A free album goes to the first person that writes in with the name of the original composer of that riff by the way. One would call this the kind of sludgy, aimless and boring black metal reserved for American pretenders were it not for the disrespect that would show the hollowed musical genre. This disc is hilarious and only for those who felt Burzum was too commercial and musically skilled! - Ali “The Metallian”
