VANISHING POINT - TANGLED IN DREAM - LMP
I suppose with the growing interest in heavy metal it was inevitable to hear something in the AOR/progressive vein from the fifth continent. The Australian sextet gets praised lavishly in the biography, but in actual fact Vanishing Point rarely goes beyond a cool title and an intriguing point. While the band's best moments are the up-tempo interludes, VP prefers for the most part to plod along at next to no pace yielding little but monotone lifelessness. The vocals of Silvio Massaro are slightly uneven and even if the band proves, via the aforementioned interludes and the occasional solo, that it can breath some life into its progressive attempt, there really is little to recommend here. Coolest thing here is a Pink Floyd cover and that in itself can hardly be construed as a compliment. - Ali "The Metallian"
