VANITY - ENSLAVED - EUPHONIOUS
Based out of Greece, Vanity are a five piece band whose label insists on using the word 'death' to describe their music. Wrong! They have a keyboardist. More precisely, the band sounds closed associated with the mellow bands which the early 90's underground used to throw at us. Names like early My Dying Bride or even Desecration come to mind and while it is good to see an underground release the presence of a keyboardist (who really really wants to be in Dream Theater) really makes this band's presence irrelevant - null and void. On the other hand, perhaps the band's older sound is no coincidence, for the album was recorded exactly two years ago and, for some inexplicable reason, only now sees the light of day. Fans of girly keyboard rock with a growler up front should look into this, otherwise...oh and the drummer should really stop following the guitars and come up with a fill of his own. - Ali "The Metallian"
