VULGAR PIGEONS - SUMMARY EXECUTION - DEATHVOMIT/NECROPOLIS
Who knows what to make of the bands feathery moniker (derived from a novel by Jack Kerouac), suffice to say there is little about the band that's lightweight. The band grinds on and on, beholden to none but its politically-motivated and, often, humourous message. What is odd is Necropolis' contention that the band asked the label not to print its lyrics. With my e-mails to Necropolis wondering why a political/social band wouldn't want its lyrics printed going unanswered my guess would be that it was actually the label censoring the band. If so, shame for songs like Fuck The Police, Flip Off Your Boss and Police=Shit are severely undervalued without lyrics. There is no question that the speed and cacophony inherent in Vulgar Pigeons (featuring members of Benumb and Severed Savior) is attractive to metal fans and a song like Follow The Hum incorporates much of appeal to extreme metal fans, but all in all these fouls are best fed by hardcore enthusiasts. - Ali "The Metallian"
