Reviews WINTER SOLSTICE - THE FALL OF ROME - METAL BLADE
Winter Solstice is another new arrival on the Metal blade roster, featuring the same hair and sound as many of the others. Winter Solstice is of the heavier and more Swedish-sounding groups and comparisons to Shadows Fall and Black Dahlia Murder are more appropriate here with perhaps some hardcore influences added in. The album is said to be a concept - The Fall Of Rome being a metaphor for today’s western world - supported by artwork such as an old statue and a tall building which make the point of an empire vulnerable and nearing collapse. From the opener, Following Caligula, and all the way to Malice In Wonderland and 55/23 Winter Solstice march forward taking only a few moments to catch their breath. Impressive in its pace, tempo and concept The Fall Of Rome is a release deserving of praise. - Anna Tergel
