WITH DEAD HANDS RISING - EXPECT HELL - MEDIASKARE
Apparently, Mediaskare/Century Media either believes itself either a major label or likes to imply as such. The label’s biography for Minnesota’s With Dead Hands Rising refers to the band’s previous albums “with the independent Life Sentence Records.” Whatever that is all about one has to disagree with the statement that this band will appeal to fans of metal and hardcore. The quintet is simply too metallic intricate for people to drop their Madball LPs for it.
With metalcore really not much of a factor here thank any and every god possible (again referring to mediaskare’s opinions), what is left is a dose of fierce and speedy brutality full of anger, bile and vicious riffing. The five slow down on the rare occasion like the song Ultima to insert a melody a la Iron Maiden, but fear not for its pedal to the metal soon enough again and off to the brutality races we go. Expect hell is neither original or a rising above much of what is out there already, but an above average grade is accorded nonetheless for sheer face-ripping intent of purpose. - Ali “The Metallian”
