History & Biography Black/death metal band Abrogation was founded in 1995 and released its Screams Of Soul demo in 1997. The Creation Of Madness demo followed in 1998. Another demo was 1999's Handwerk Des Todes. John Doe had replaced the drum machine named John Doe. The band had switched to German here obviously.
Grind Syndicate Media, however, released the band's Das Blut Der Toten debut album in 2002. The band was singer and guitarist Schwarte, guitarist Poldi, bassist RW and drummer John Doe. The band reverted to demo land in 2005, however, and issued 1487. The band was at the Tunes Of Death Festival. This was followed four years later with another demo, Sarggeburt. A second album emerged in 2011. The group was invited to appear at the Metal Embrace Festival in 2011. In the meantime, American act Chaos Inception issued an album called The Abrogation through Lavadome Productions in 2012. Abrogation was booked for the There's No Tomorrow Open Air and Dark Troll Festival in 2014. Another five years passed before Urstant emerged. Fenris was on vocals now. Alexander "Näx" May joined in 2016. Abrogation was billed at Rock Unter Den Eichen Open Air and Wolfszeit Festival in 2018. Extinct was part of the Mosh Im Mai Warm Up Party Tour with Abrogation, Royal Remains and others.
Germany-based death metal act Abrogation had a full-length album, called Widerschein, through Massacre Records on April 10th 2026. This meant that the record followed its predecessor by ten years! There was a release show with Faces Of Fear and Unrast. The group had lined up several German shows including an appearance at the Metal Embrace festival in 2026.
The band's line-up has been remarkably stable over the years.
