History & Biography
Acid Reign got its start when a member's parents put up the money for the band to record a demo. The band had a sense of humour and its members went on to many other bands. The Brits specialized in thrash at the same time as the style was rising in the UK with bands like Toranaga and Xentrix. The band's first release was the Moshkin Stein EP - a parody of Anthrax presumably. 2014 brought a band compilation, called The Apple Core Archives, courtesy of Candlelight. A version of Acid Reign reformed in 2015 with only original member Howard "H" Smith. The man had been a stand-up comedian. Decapitated, Raging Speedhorn, Acid Reign and others were to take to the stage of the O2 Academy in Birmingham as part of HRH Metal: Metal Meltdown On February 16th 2019. Acid Reign released its first full-length album in some thirty years in September 2019. The Age Of Entitlement was out through Dissonance Productions in September. Anthology 1987 – 2017 was a box set through Dissonance in late 2019.

Ian Gangwer died in 2021. Solitary was headlining in Edinburgh, playing with Acid Reign, Damnations Hammer and Dog Tired In Glasgow in 2021. Paul Chanter left in 2022. Matt Smith joined on guitar. Cooky left in 2024. Acid Reign announced concerts for 2024. Drummer Johnny Grimley (ex-Shrapnel) replaced Marc Jackson, who had left the band in December 2024. The band was also commencing working on a follow-up to 2019's The Age Of Entitlement. The band was booked for Day Of Wreckoning in Swansea in June 2025 headlining over Ofnus, Inhuman Nature and Red Method.

A fourth full-length album, called Daze Of The Week, was announced through Back On Black/Plan 9 for May 2026. The album was supported through a tour of the UK in the following month and an appearance in Greece opening for Sacred Reich in August. As always, most of the band was new. The album featured a new drummer and two new guitarists.
