History & Biography
Germany-based Agrypnie is sometimes called “black metal” or “post-black metal.” These descriptions are wrong. The band mixes progressive and rock music into its metal fusion and loves to mix brutal sounds with ambient and clean relaxation segments. The act has been around since 2004.

The band was the sole domain of Torsten, Der Unhold to start. Split-Demo 2005 was the joint work of Agrypnie and fellow Germans Fated. The latter band duly split up, but the former kept a chugging. F51.4 was the debut and issued in June 2006. The lyrics were courtesy of Marcel Vampellans Traumschänder of Nocte Obducta, of which Torsten had been a member. Unconventional album titles followed, but the man had recruited help. The group announced its appearance at Summer Breeze Open Air in 2008. Asche was a 2011 EP. Dornenreich and Agrypnie announced touring intentions. The Vision Bleak, Agrypnie and Helrunar were touring in 2012. Agrypnie, Der Weg Einer Freiheit and Heretoir announced a 2013 tour. The band and Harakiri For The Sky were conducting Agrypnie’s 10th Anniversary mini-tour in 2014. Torsten would sing for that band live four years later.

The band switched to AOP records for 2021’s Metamorphosis. The band was invited to Dark Easter Metal Meeting 2023 and the Ragnarök Festival 2023. The band had played at the latter in 2019 and 2011. Erg was the latest full-length by Germany-based Agrypnie in 2024. It was released through AOP Records on September 13th. Torsten was the mainstay and Flo was his drummer now. The drummer was making the rounds of many bands.
