History & Biography Amaran is perhaps more of a rock band with female vocals than a metal act, but the band signed with France's Listenable in 2001 and released its debut there the year after.
The band was formed in 2000 by Backlund and Kainulainen who were soon to be joined by Andersson who had played with Kari a decade before in a cover band. A four-song demo is recorded when a suitable singer is found, following which a drummer is introduced to the band. The band's first show was in support of The Storyteller.
The debut was recorded in Denmark with Jacob Hansen producing at Studio Aabenraa. The band was supposed to open for Tristania across Europe, but the tour was cancelled by the headliners.
The band called it a day in late 2005. Various members undertook different projects.
