History & Biography
Amenra was formed by three former members of Belgium-based crossover band Spineless in 1999. Mass I: Prayer I-VI was a 2003 EP. A slew of live albums, EPs and split releases followed with 'Mass' in their names. The act insisted on flooding the market and even the release of an album called De Doorn was followed by De Doorn (Version 2) with self-cover versions and alternate mixes. The band's music contains hardcore, sludge and doom. Mass III of 2005 was the first full-length. The group was booked for Hellfest 2006. Mass IIII's name deviated from the Roman numeral convention. The Belgian act was booked for the Temples Festival in the UK in 2013. Amenra was billed at Roadburn 2016. Touring in 2017 was with Neurosis and Converge. This came after the Afterlife Alive tour, which was an acoustic one. The act was touring Europe with Boris and then North America with Yob and Voivod in 2018. The band was also invited to Japan in 2018. The year 2019 had the band booked to tour Europe with E-L-R and Ylva. Mass VI Live and Acoustic Live (Vivid) were digital only released in 2020. 2022 touring had Jo Quail in tow. Igorrr: Distortion Tour Europe 2023 featured the band, Igorr and Der Weg Einer Freiheit. The band was to travel to South America in 2023. A German tour featured Amenra and Corecass. Primitive Man was touring with Amenra and Slow Crush in 2024. Festivals included Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2024 and Desertfest.

Belgium-based Amenra had a music video for the song Forlorn, which appeared on the With Fang And Claw single. This and another EP, called De Toorn, were available through Relapse on March 28th 2025. Bassist Amy Tung Barrysmith was the latest of many that come and go in the group. The band was booked to headline Metalitalia.com fest in September of 2026.

The members' relationship to Amenra is akin to Donald's to Melania. Everyone is in multiple different acts, philandering, never committed and never exclusive.
