History & Biography
In late 2012, Season Of Mist signed Vancouver metal quartet Anciients. The Canadians had finished mastering their as-yet-untitled debut album slated for release in 2013. The full-length album was recorded with Jesse Gander at the Hive Studio. Main man Cook formed the band. A self-titled demo had been issued in 2011.

The album arrived in 2013. It was called Heart Of Oak. Voice Of The Void arrived in late 2016. Chris Dyck left the guitar position. The band conducted a headlining tour of Europe with Black Wizard and won a Juno Award in its home country in 2018 (and would win another one in 2025). Still, the band went on hiatus. Self-cover versions were the trend and so Anciients recorded Built To Die, from the early Snakebeard EP, for release in early 2024. Beyond The Reach Of The Sun was announced for the summer of 2024. It told the tale of a society enslaved by forces from another dimension. This album featured new bassist Rory O'Brien. The band was booked for Bristol’s ArcTanGent Festival and the 23rd edition of ProgPower USA in 2025. Anciients returned to the USA for its first tour in eight years in 2025. The Quest Beyond Our Minds tour was booked for August and September 2025 and was to feature support from Dawn Of Ouroboros, Armed For Apocalypse, Nott and Exist on select dates.
