History & Biography No word on whether the Dutch heavy metallers were inspired by AC/DC (actually they were named after the bull of the same name). Gerard Carol was a classically trained violinist. Early demos were self-titled and Track Of Doom. The latter came a year before the album with the same name. The Amsterdam-based band had an EP entitled Papa Don't Freak on Megaton in 1987. It was actually inspired and cut from Madonna's Papa Don't Preach. The full Angus song title was Papa Don’t Freak (When Mama Sleeps With Another Man). The cover photograph had the members pose in feminine attire. The band existed between 1983 and 1988, in 1999 and again from 2011 to 2013.
The band was called Angus, but upon reformation, only drummer William Lawson was left standing from early line-ups. Sentinel Steel issued a double-CD for the band in 2001. The Metal Warriors compilation of 2002 featured demo and rare material by Angus. Upon dissolution, the band was singer Nico Perreijn, guitarist Patrick Kruijer and bassist Rene Bouwer. Edgar Lois died in 2019.
