History & Biography In the spring of 2000, Hakan Bjorklund and Mattias Edin started to jam together in Kramfors, Sweden and laid the groundwork for the Swedish version of Apostasy. Singer Fredric Edin and guitarist Lars Engstrom joined the duo.
In January 2002, the band recorded its demo Marchosias at Studio Underground. Later that spring bassist Andreas Edin and keyboardist Dennis Bobzien joined the band. Guitarist Lars Engstrom would soon leave though unhappy with the band's music direction. Henrik Johansson soon replaced him. The band soon found itself at Studio Underground to record a new demo. This recording grabbed the attention of Black Mark Production, which signed the band. The debut album was entitled Cell 666 and was recorded summer 2003 at Studio Underground. It was released in the winter of 2004 and often compared to Dimmu Borgir's later work.
Guitarist Henrik Johansson was stabbed to death at his home on the 8th of March, 2006 by his girlfriend. Bassist Johan Edlund left the band in 2008. While looking for a label, the band recruited bassist Patrik Wall. Sweden's Apostasy picked up guitarist Peter Huss of Shining at the end of 2010. Drummer Thomas Ohlsson joined Skineater in spring of 2011.
