History & Biography
Southern power metal from the USA, Arcane was the odd non-death/thrash outfit on L.A's Wild Rags Records. The group was formed by Byron Hawk and drummer Jim King in 1986. Members came from Arsenal and Battalion. The band stood out for Barbour's distinctive high-pitched vocals although Hawk was the initial singer. King left in 1989. Two members ended up in Solitude Aeternus. Another was in Last Chapter, which was related to Solitude Aeternus.

The fledgling Decision Records issued an EP called Ambiguity in 1994. With the band’s dissolution, plans for a full-length were cancelled. DiveBomb Records released a compilation of the band’s music, called Worlds Colliding: The Anthology, in 2014. Byron Hawk moved to South Carolina and become a Professor of English. He was also in the doomy MNRVA.
