ARRIVAL - AN ABSTRACT OF INERTIA - EDGERUNNER
Formed in 1999 as a one-man project and enriching the line-up to a quintet via the arrival of several members from local act Obsessive Art, Finland's Arrival will appeal to fans of bands like Children Of Bodom. The compositions are tight and the general tempo fast-paced. The vocals of Sin K. are suitably evil and gargle the words with a sinister urge. A great speed metal band...could have been. Then kicks in Mr Sn TwentynineA (not a typo) on, you guessed it, synthesizer and turns the thing into a farce or as they call it in Finnish metal circles a masterpiece!! Why, oh why would you take what could have been a stirring speed metal experience and dunk it in keyboards is something only a Finn could explain. Sadly, metal fans will be disappointed in the lost potential and will find that Arrival comes without the needed thrills.
