History & Biography
Former Iced Earth members Matt Barlow (vocals) and Freddie Vidales (bass and guitar), as well as former Nevermore drummer Van Williams picked Ashes Of Ares as the name of a new project in 2012. The group issued its debut through Nuclear Blast. Dean Sternberg (Into Eternity) was the band’s live bassist. The band lost drummer Van Williams at the beginning of 2017. The man focused on Ghost Ship Octavius. Ashes Of Ares signed with ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records in mid-2018. The band was working on its second album, which was to be released in 2018. Throne Of Iniquity was a 2020 EP. Ashes Of Ares released its 2021 album Emperors And Fools through ROAR! Rock Of Angels on 21.01.2022. Van Williams was the session drummer.

Ashes Of Ares's fourth studio album was entitled New Messiahs and available July 18 2025. The band was touring Eastern Europe and playing at Keep It True next. The band would perform the Iced Earth record The Dark Saga in its entirety.
