History & Biography UK-Based heavy metal band Asomvel has been at it since the early 1990s. Yet, a demo, called The Blood Eye, appeared only in 2002. First, however, the band had recruited former Cathedral and Acid Reign drummer Mark Ramsey Wharton since he was a friend and also ex- Lochenbar member. From there on drummers came and drummers went. To Hell With All The Rest was a 2005 demo. A third demo was 2007's Full Moon Dog. The band's debut album became one of the last releases of The Miskatonic Foundation. Jay-Jay Winter died in 2010. He was in a car accident. Still, an EP with older material, called Stare At Death & Spit, arrived in 2011. The band and their wives began organizing a Full Moon Dog Festival in Winter's honour. This was supposed to be an annual event. Earlier, the band had announced it would disband following Winter's death.
The band marched on and released Knuckle Duster in late 2013. Only Lenny Robinson remained from the old line-up. The man was married to Jay-Jay's sister. World Shaker came six years later and featured Ralph Robinson. Ralph is Lenny's son and nephew of the deceased Jay-Jay. Conan and Jay Hope departed and were part of the founding line-up of Blind Haze in 2014. The band was booked to open for Girlschool and Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz in Europe in 2022.
The band may have been listening to Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley because the next release was a 2024 demo called Born To Rock 'n' Roll, which contained older songs. A full-length entitled Set The World On Fire was announced for 01.10.2026. The title track was composed of 22 short lines 12 of which were "Set your world on fire," but that was because another two were "I'm gonna set your world on fire." Ralph's brother Stel Robinson was now on second guitar. The group was booked for Graspop in 2026. The band was booked for a UK tour in November of 2026. Asomvel was also billed at London Rock Festival 2027.
The band liked to still list Winter as a member. The band asserts that its monicker does not have a meaning.
