History & Biography
Assignment was formed in 1994 as a thrashy metal band. 1996’s Thoughts Without Previous Knowledge demo featured four songs. The band’s sound consistently progressed to something more progressive and by the time Progressive Changes was issued the band had completed much of its progression. In 2013, Germany’s progressive metal band Assignment signed a two-album deal with Mausoleum Records. The group’s debut album, Inside Of The Machine, was scheduled for a release that summer. It was originally issued by Rock 'N' Growl.

Closing The Circle moved to Massacre and since that label had even less promotion than a Mongolian hamburger shop in Yukon, the band went further underground. Diego Valdez was the singer. No one told him, however, and he kept joining project after project. Michael Kolar was the drummer on Reflections. The Cimmerian Tales EP of 2022 was inspired by the Conan movies. The Assimilation EP of 2022 was one of those cover versions releases. With The End Comes Silence was issued in early 2026. Gert Sprick was gone.
