History & Biography
Asterius was formed in 1997 as a goth band. The act had another monicker for three years. The band adopted a two-singer approach. The band recorded a demo called As Descendants Of Stars in 1999 at Sub-zero studio. The band, consequently, became one of the only unsigned bands to play at Wave Gotik Treffen Festival in 2000 or the Summer Breeze Festival 2001.The band toured Germany and Italy in 2002.

The act entered Sub-zero studio - where bassist Arctur worked - again at the beginning of 2003. The band signed with Italy's Cruz Del Sur Music and released its debut in the autumn of 2003. Several release shows followed in October. Despite the passage of time, the band still existed and changed its name again 2018.

The band referred to itself as Bizarre Space Metal.

Reviews

ASTERIUS - A MOMENT OF SINGULARITY - CRUZ DEL SUR
Germany's Asterius came to Metallian Towers with quite a tribute. The band's biography lists quite a few achievements for a then-unsigned band and so the expectation was high. Sadly, they will not be fulfilled.
The band's two vocalists pursue different tacts. One is more melodic and sounds like Dane of Nevermore, whilst the other is harsher and is after the Cradle Of Filth effect. They are neither original nor particularly good. The band's music is a mix of sub-genres. Much like Akercoke, the Germans attempt an array of different things which quite simply do not work. Instead the action sounds both haphazard and confused. Any notion of arrangement gets buried in the jumble. Odd for a band and album whose title is A Moment Of Singularity and has songs like Continuum and The One Perspective. By now the band's heavy accent on keyboards and the ending of the CD with a techno/industrial remix are moot points. The coffin was already long nailed shut. - Ali "The Metallian"
