History & Biography Bad News, as the name portends, was a joke that cooperated with Queen's Brian May for a while. As such, May produced the debut album and the band issued a single covering Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody in 1987. The membership was intertwined with BBC's slapstick comedy The Young One's troupe and the alternative comedy of Channel 4's The Comic Strip Presents.... This was supposed to be a parody with members in exaggerated metal garb. Still, the members went as far as playing live in character. Bad News played the Monsters Of Rock festival in 1986. The band toured the UK in 1987. May made encore appearances with the act. The Bootleg album was partly comprised of spoken word material.
The comedy of the act worked because it included truthisms with titles like Cashing In On Christmas or a compilation called The Cash In Compilation. Grigson died in 2014.
