History & Biography
Bat is a heavy metal act with speedy and thrashy flourishes and is envisioned as a side-project for two Municipal Waste members, but its activities are curtailed due to the focus the musicians have on their main bands. Bat was founded in 2013. It comprised of drummer Felix Griffin of D.R.I. fame and Municipal Waste members Nick Poulos (guitar) and Ryan Waste (vocals and bass). Nick joined Municipal Waste after being in Bat.

Primitive Age of 2013 was a demo put to tape by Tankcrimes.Hells Headbangers Records would put it onto vinyl in 2015 as well. Several demo songs also appeared on the full-length in 2016. Axestasy was a 2019 EP with a self-cover version of the song Ritual Fool. Felix Griffin left and was replaced by Chris Charge in 2019. Griffin quit because the other members would be able to have an income touring with their main act Municipal Waste, but Griffin would then have to figure out another way to make money.

Bat, featuring Municipal Waste guitarists Ryan Waste and Nick Poulos, released a full-length album called Under The Crooked Claw through Nuclear Blast Records. The side-project had been signed to Municipal Waste’s label to begin 2024. Bat was touring the USA followed by the first half of the Lifeless Birth Tour 2024 with headliners Necrot. Following a tour called Brainsqueeze supporting Municipal Waste, Necrot announced a North American headlining tour called The Lifeless Birth Tour 2024. Opening were Street Tombs, Bat and Phobophilic on select dates. Bat was booked for a Municipal Waste 25th anniversary event in the spring of 2025.
