History & Biography
This corpse painted Polish black metal band has its origins in 1991, yet could only record a demo in 1996 following the stabilization of its line-up. The band, here a quartet, got signed following the Czarci Majestat demo (the 'Devil's Majesty' demo) and promised a fight against Christianity. Incidentally, and skipping ahead, the band rereleased this demo on its tenth anniversary to coincide with the 06.06.2006. date. Weronis was no longer part of the fold by the time Hail Lucifer was released. The co-founder was shown the door because Beldaroh found his erstwhile friend not Satanic enough. The band changed its logo sometime around 2002. The band announced a box set called 666 for 2007. It never materialized. Weronis, founding Besatt drummer Dertalis and Beldaroh would found a black/thrash band called Det Gamle Besatt in 2012. Guitarist Agonus joined in 2002, left in 2004, returned in 2008 and left again in 2010. Drummer Devastate was in the band between 2010 and 2011 and returned in 2026. His return was inevitable given how he had transformed himself into a drum taxi.

Besatt kept up quite a release schedule, but Undercover gave them as much promotion as a book on a Donald Trump voter's shelf. Singer and drummer Fulmineus left in 2008. Unholy Trinity Part 2 - Unspirit was taped live in Brazil in 2008. Impia Symphonia was an EP through Warheart Records in 2015. The 2019 CD and DVD Blasphemous Ritual Live In Zabrze actually featured live tracks from all four corners of the world. The band had been touring every continent in recent years. The CD version was pressed independently in 2021 as a fill-in given the advent of the pandemic and the isolation protocols. The band lost guitarists Colossus and Astaroth and drummer Exernus all in 2025. The band did not bother offering an explanation. Drummer Devastate returned. New guitarists were Heretyk and Zirnaeth.

'Besatt' means 'possessed' in Norwegian and Swedish. Singer and bassist Beldaroh has become the band mainstay over the years.
