History & Biography The band was founded in Osaka, Japan out of the ashes of The Depth in 2012. There were three of them to start, but the bassist left. The group uploaded a song called Warm Death in 2016. A self-titled digital demo with a groovy cover appeared in 2017. Then there was a split with The Dope. A full-length demo was called Under The Strawberry Moon. Abyss was picked up by a British label. The band taped its show in Osaka and issued it as Live At Hokage Osaka, Japan Sep.5.2020.
The Japan-based doom metal duo Blacklab was working on an album for 2022. The band had released a song called Abyss Woods in advance of its appearance at UK’s Desertfest, which was its first show outside Japan. The band had been booked at the festival in 2020, but the pandemic had shut that door. The group played several side sows in the UK in 2022.
The band termed itself “Dark witch doom duo.”
