History & Biography The band with a truism as a monicker was active in French Canada between 1996 and 2017. The group’s first monicker was Cryptic Spell. A keyboardist was added in 1997. Tuxedo Productions issued a chic demo/EP called Veiled Hideousness for the band in 2000. The band was Tom on the microphone, Daniel and Sebastian on guitars, Vincent on bass, Hugo on drums and a piano man called Tattoo. The group participated in the local Polliwog and Envol Et Macadam contests. The obvious influence was goth band, Cradle Of Filth.
The local Galy Records picked the band up and released the debut album in 2003. Julien Marcotte was on drums and Pascal Côté on second guitar. A Montreal show featured the band, Obscursis Romancia, Apostasy and Paroxysm. Marcotte left, but promptly returned. Galy Records re-issued the debut EP in 2006. The band recorded a show from Quebec City in 2005 and had it released in 2007.
Blinded By Faith, from Quebec City, Canada, announced the addition of bassist Michaël Beaudoin in April 2010. Jean-François Gagné had left after having replaced Vincent Roy. The group had announced a demo featuring the song The Pace Of The Race, Dead End and Drastic Medicine. It never arrived. Beaudoin quickly switched to second guitar. Guitarist Daric Grenier had left. Chernobyl Survivor was the last release for the band. The band was a quartet including singer Tommy who had taken over the keyboards too, guitarists Pascal Côté and Michaël Beaudoin and drummer Julien Marcotte. Antoine Baril of Augury was a guest bassist. The last album contained the reported three demo songs. Jean-Philippe Morin was the band’s last bassist, but the group disbanded in 2017 following a farewell tour of Quebec.
Born Divided beginning 2019 came from the remains of Blinded By Faith when Tommy Demers decided to pick up the bass instead of staying solely on vocal. He brought in guitarist Michael Beaudoin, also from Blinded By Faith; guitarist Fred Bedard; drummer Lucas Biron and Maxim Levesque on vocals.
The cliched reformation came in 2024. Born Divided's Lucas Biron was on drums. Canada-based death metal group Backstabber was hitting the road for select gigs across its home province of Quebec which included a performance at Festival Des Guitares Du Monde with Blinded By Faith and Blackguard in the summer. The reformed Blinded By Faith had gigs lined up in Ottawa and Toronto.
