History & Biography
Bombus is a hard and heavy group based in Sweden having been formed by Fredrik and Matte in 2008. The band had a 7” EP called Bring Me The Head Of Your Dog b/w Deep River in 2009. The band’s logo was stylized Bom/Bus here. The same issuing label handled the debut full-length in the spring of 2010. The line-up was singers and guitarists Fredrik Berglund and Mattias Jacobsson, bassist Ulf Lundén and drummer Peter Asp. Nasum, Vomitory and Bombus played together in 2012.

The second album was called The Poet And The Parrot and had the group contracted to Century Media Records. Matte Säker was the new billing for Jacobsson on vocals and guitar. Jonas Rydberg was billed on bass. The group was booked for Metaltown 2013 in Gothenburg Sweden. The band was next booked for House Of Metal 2014 and Sweden Rock 2014 among others. Century Media offered a free single called To Enter The Night b/w Let Her Die. The Swedes were touring Europe as openers for Monster Magnet. The second album on Century Media was 2016’s Repeat Until Death. Ola Henriksson was the bass player. This album featured the song I Call You Over (Hairy Teeth, Pt. II), which shared a guitar riff with the song Hairy Teeth from the debut. Gigging in 2016 included Leyendas Del Rock 2016, Metaldays, Summer Breeze and Copenhell. Graveyard and the band trekked across Europe in 2018.

Gigging was limited following the Vulture Culture album of 2019. The record had arrived late in the year. Nonetheless, the band introduced guitarist Simon Solomon, which meant Bombus was a three-guitar formation now. Berglund was the only singer now. Johan Meiton was added a year later. There was a single called Abomination Rock'n'Roll in 2021. This proved to be the final release on Century Media. The band was booked at Sweden Rock Festival 2022 and Mystic Festival 2023 in Poland.

Black Lodge Records signed Sweden-based Bombus and announced the release of its full-length album, Your Blood, for late in 2024.

Bombus is the genus for bumblebees. Stryper could have used the monicker.
