History & Biography
Malaysia-based deathrash mayhemsters Brain Dead was founded in August 1988 and lasted until 1995. Malek and Ein Possessor were the founders. Drummer Shahrin was an early member, but would leave and yet make sporadic appearances over the years. Malaysia is no different than the West and every band must reform. Brain Dead was resuscitated in 2006.

There was a rehearsal tape in 1990 and a live one in 1991. It was taped in Thailand. As a disrespect to the underground Nuclear War Now! Productions re-issued this on vinyl. The band’s first album was issued by a Malaysian label. The next demo tape was called 7th Live Hell. Brain Dead and Silent Death shared a live video release in 1993 as well. Several splits later the band went brain dead.

The group was invited to play at the Blast From The past gig in 2006, which reawakened the membership. The band’s return release was 2013’s Zygotical Ecstasy (sic). The group played Mamatfest in 2019. It took seven years for a Malaysian label to issue an album. Hashim was on bass and drums. It had taken three years after the band began recording for the record to come out.
