History & Biography
The band was called Matrix between 1981 and 1986. Bride hail from Kentucky and have incorporated many styles into hard rock over the years. The original line-up of Bride was singer Dale Thompson (who also handled the bass in Matrix), his guitarist brother Troy Thompson, bassist Scott Hall and Stephen Roland on drums. The band's monicker was inspired by The Bible's The Book of Revelation and referred to the bride of Christ. Another group had laid claim to the name Matrix first.

The band's debut Show No Mercy featured goth, but the band went on to add Jesus, industrial, rap and a revolving door of members into the music. Incidentally, the band had garnered a record deal as Matrix and only after signing changed its name. Fist Full Of Bees rapped in the name of Jesus. The title is interesting because Dale briefly fronted Stryper, who dressed like bees, in 1992. The band opened for Stryper on tour. The band's 1992 album, Snakes In The Playground, became the inspiration and a prequel to the group's later trilogy of albums. The trilogy contained the Snake Eyes, Here Is Your God and Are You Awake albums. The trilogy explored Christian spiritual awakening. Live activities died down in the late 1990s however. Still, the band had visited Brazil in the 1990s.

An expanded version of 2003's This Is It was issued by Retroactive Records in 2006. The Christian imprint would handle most of the band's material going forward. Following the turn of the century, the band turned to releasing the (almost) annual live albums and compilations resulting in a dozen such releases. Bluegrass Gospel was exactly that in 2001 and released independently. Dale Thompson ran for president of the United State, under the banner of the far right Christian, Constitution Party in 2008. Early guitarist Steve Osborne committed suicide in 2011. The band played a tribute show and ceased playing live. The band had ceased touring and playing live despite being active in that arena in the earlier years. The Bride Book was an attempt at an autobiography by the band. Bride officially disbanded in 2013, before doing the time-honoured reformation four years later. The disbandment coincided with Dale's move to New Zealand. Early 1990s bassist Rick Foley died of cancer in 2021. Foley's departure had taken the wind out of its sails. Snakes In The Playground [Acoustic] was also as the name indicated and issued independently in 2023. The band returned to play live in Brazil in 2024. Bride announced that it would disband in 2026. The farewell included a return to the stage in the USA.

The band is basically the pulpit of the Thompsons and there are as many drummers, bassists and guitarists as versions of the Bible. More recently, Dale relocated to New Zealand to be with his beloved, while bassist Nenel Lucena (who left the band in 2022) and drummer Aposan Alexandre are based in Brazil.
