History & Biography
CETI was created by former Turbo singer Grzegorz Kupczyk as a hard rock side-project in Poznań, in Western Poland, on October 12th, 1989. The act was named for a 1970s' NASA program that was an abbreviation for Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence. The debut album was issued by the Polish state-owned record company and pressing plant Arston in 1989. The album was called Czarna Róża, which is Polish for 'Black Rose.' The inaugural line-up was Grzegorz Kupczyk (also handling some bass), guitarist Andrzej Łysów (also ex-Turbo), bassist Maciej Przybylski, drummer Jacek Jabłoński and keyboard gal Maria Wietrzykowska who is also considered a founding member. The second album arrived three years later. It was called Lamiastrata and was distributed by a major label. Marcin Krystek was on drums here. As you can imagine, Rasizm was Polish for 'Racism.' Łysy remained on guitar. Mucek remained the drummer. Marihuana Amadea/Maria Wietrzykowska was still on piano. At the same time, Turbo was reactivated in 1995. Bassist Marcin Sauter was in and out. Guitarist Waldemar "Valdi" Moder (later in Kat) also came and went. This man would die in 2012. The main man would also become more involved in his outside projects like making music for mass media. This meant that CETI would be put on ice.

Several years passed before the completely English Shadow Of The Angel of 2003. The guitarist now was Przemysław Burzyński (later in an anti-abortion and Christian act), the bassist was Bartek Urbaniak, Marcin Krystek was still on drums and Maria remained on keyboards. Living Shadow Of The Angel was a live DVD in 2005. The band had toured with Vader. There was a collaboration with a symphony orchestra next. Ghost Of The Universe - Behind The Black Curtain - 2011 - was an independent release. To celebrate its 30th anniversary the band issued a CD called CETI Plays Metallica. It was another of those cover version albums flooding the market. Piotr of Kat was running the Cover festival playing cover versions and invited, among others, Grzegorz Kupczyk and Pająk from Vader to participate.

Brutus Syndrome was back to original material. Oczy Martwych Miast or "Eyes Of The Dead City' again featured Polish titles. A two-disc self-titled release arrived in 2022. Former CETI bassist Maciej "Maciuperski" Przybylski died of a heart attack in 2026. He was 54.
