History & Biography
The band was founded in 2000 and had 2003 and 2008 demos. Horror Pain Gore Death issued a Coathanger Abortion/Sacrificial Slaughter/Rottenness split record called The Hate Divide in 2018. Half the tracks on this release are mere cover versions. Dunlap died in 2019.

Coathanger Abortion had an album called Plan C through Comatose Music on October 21st 2022. The album contained a cover version of Broken Hope’s Cannibal Crave featuring guest vocals from Damian Leski of that band. The group was booked for the Slamdakota Death Fest! In the summer of 2022 and en route enjoyed a flat tire courtesy of a passer-by. Former guitarist Jay Terry died in 2023. Ethan Frazier left in 2024. He was playing the ebony and ivory for a band called Purulency. The band had a 2025 show with Scasm and Burrito Bowel (courtesy of Burrito Bowel) on the occasion of the release of the Sh*t Stains & Stomach Pains. The band purported to be extreme and metal, but 'shit' was censored.
