History & Biography My Graveyard Productions signed a deal with Canadian band Cromlech in order to release the band’s debut album, Ave Mortis. The band’s sound was described as “a dark gloomy epic/doom sound.” The act was founded in Toronto, Canada in 2011 and featured two Into Oblivion musicians. Loghnane, who had never sang before, had joined in 2012. Roman and Baron met at an Into Oblivion concert. There were several other bands with the same name in existence. A friend of Baron's, who moved away later, was the early drummer. A rehearsal called Lair Of Doom went unreleased. The act had a demo called Ancestral Doom. It also had a split with Into Oblivion (featuring band members) and Shoor in 2012. The band's participation was with demo songs. The band played the Malta Doom Metal Festival in Malta in October 2015. Other acts appearing were Venom Inc, Marche Funebre, Tysondog and Void Moon. Iron Guard was a 2017 demo. Infamous and Cromlech had a split release in 2018. The group also announced a new album called Ascent Of Kings in 2018. The group opened for Korrosive at the latter’s release party.
Ascent Of Kings, whose name was announced as early as 2016 and actual recordings had begun in 2021, was issued in 2023. The band had an album release concert in Toronto and duly split up. The band, in an announcement accompanied by a quote from The Bible, announced that founder Baron had left and that Cromlech has gone with him. The other four members picked up the Tolkien-inspired Mormegil monicker and opted to continue.
Cromlech is a circular or similar ancient structure. It was also the name of a Darkthrone demo. The band was right-wing yet claimed to be apolitical while waving a MAGA flag and proclaiming a desire to homosexually interact with Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Guitarist Roman would exhort everyone to delete their social media accounts. The band updated its Facebook account. Guitarist Roman cited Nazi sympathizers Graveland as one of his influences.
