History & Biography
The heavy metal band Crystal Eyes was founded in 1992 and issued multiple demos prior to its debut album of 1999, World Of Black And Silver. This album was released on Shark Records' parent company, Crazy Life Music. The band was singer, guitarist and keyboardist Mikael Dahl, guitarist Jonathan Nyberg, bassist and keyboardist Claes Wikander and drummer Kujtim Gashi. This means that bassists Christian Gunnarsson and Mikael Blohm, drummer Fredrik Gröndahl and guitarist Niclas Karlsson had already left. The last name would return (leave, return, etc.) however. Yes, it was that kind of a band. Having said that, Claes Wikander had joined in 1997 and would remain. Niclas Karlsson had founded Fierce Conviction after leaving Crystal Eyes in 1995. After the recording of Freternia's second album Stefan Svantesson left and was replaced by another Crystal Eyes member in the form of Martin Tilander. Svantesson had left owing to often being struck by stage fright.

The debut album was recorded in Germany. The group hated the sound courtesy of Detlef Mohrmann - the album was remixed - and yet worked with him on the follow-up. The boys similarly hated the second album's production. The main man built his own studio next. The cover of Vengeance Descending was reminiscent of Testament's The New Order. The band had switched to Heavy Fidelity, which was Mikael Dahl's younger brother's imprint. It wasn't that the bigger labels on the scene were doing any real promotion or publicity by now, but this pushed Crystal Eyes even further underground. The group appeared at The Sweden Rock Festival. Confessions Of The Maker featured singer Daniel Heiman. The singer left citing his contract elsewhere that made him exclusive with another band. Søren Nico Adamsen sang on Dead City Dreaming. Søren Nico Adamsen left the frontman position in 2009. The singer cited a lack of time to devote to the band. He would be in a band called Crystal Tears later. Guitarist Mikael Dahl was resuming his double-duty as the vocalist. Dahl was also the singer for Judas Priest cover band, Defenders Of The Faith. Crystal Eyes announced the addition of 41-year old guitarist Pål Petterson in late 2007. He recorded Chained and left in 2012. The band was not broken up, but Killer followed its predecessor by six years. The band was on Massacre Records, which meant the band now saw even less publicity, yet the act had re-signed with the label. No surprise that the follow-up came only in 2019. Starbourne Traveler featured two demo era self-cover versions, Rage On The Sea and Extreme Paranoia. The album's cover was inspired by Crimson Glory's Transcendence. A gig at Oscars Rockbar in Varberg was cancelled when the venue was shuttered. Several gigs were cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020. The band took time to upload its demo material for listeners' pleasure.

Thunder God was the title for the next Crystal Eyes album. It was issued through Massacre Records on 30.10.2026.
