History & Biography
The Japanese grindcore (or 'grind rock' with noise and jazz influences) band CSSO/Clotted Symmetric Sexual Organ would change its name from Gastric Juice (founded in 1991) before recording a demo in 1993. Gitarrist Sumito Sekine and bassist Takashi were the founders. The former's brother joined as the vocalist. Drummer Anal Lobotomy replaced Susumu. An album would follow (the band members were using aliases) and so would a European tour and a split CD with Dead Infection. The band would get to release a CD in North America next with help from Relapse Records. Morbid Records would also reissue the band's debut full-length! A 1997 7" by Relapse had a groovy cover art.

The band would appear on the scene in 2002 with a split-CD with Nuclear Devastation and Total Fucking Destruction. Sumito und Narutoshi had a death/doom project called Black Flower as of 2002. At this juncture, the band essentially ceased being active, but older material kept on coming. The band had a stash of older recordings and was good at recycling. The band split up following its second record, but returned without much activity. CSSO appeared at the Obscene Extreme 2015 Asia festival. Obliteration Records, which was run by C.S.S.O. main man Narutoshi, reissued the band’s early works in late 2005. Many split releases followed. Improvised Live At Nagano in 2002 was an EP in 2021.
