History & Biography Florida thrashers Cyst were formed by Dan Ortega, Mike Maxson, and Dean
Piekara in 1995 using the Stalkbreed monicker. A new name was chosen approximately a year later. Wrath was the 2001 demo. The band recorded a full-length entitled
Concussion Symphony in late 2000, which with the band's signing to Hook
N Mouth Records became the band's debut full-length release in late 2002. Earlier, three of the songs had formed the basis for a demo. The
album was produced by Jeremy Staska at Studio 13 where previously bands like Hateplow and Malevolent Creation had worked.
Cyst had by this time opened for the likes of Witchery, Mortician, Hatebreed, Amon Amarth, and Slayer.
Phil Pinto (Defiler) became the drummer in 2005. The band dissolved in 2006 and cliche-wise returned in 2010. A demo of older material was called Despisers Of This Mortal Coil and released in 2011. Requiem Of Ruin was a 2012 demo.
