History & Biography
This band was formed in 1998 when Carl Delius, formerly of Involved, began putting together a line-up locally for a metal band. This band issued three demos, First, Diamonds And Tyrants and Lost Horizon, before signing for a Japanese-only release in 2003. The band was fronted by Ross Thompson since 2001 as Delius had moved on to Torian. This album was issued in early 2005 in the USA through Nightmare Records.

Reviews

DEADLY SIN - SUNBORN - SPIRITUAL BEAST/NIGHTMARE
Deadly Sin is a German underground heavy metal band that has attracted the attention of labels outside its homeland which have consequently issued the band's debut album. The band has next to no profile outside its town and this album is not really going to change that. It is not that the band's music is rancid or worthless, but it is non-descriptive and rather unfocused. The styles range from progressive metal to hard rock to heavy metal and thrash metal. The vocalist can be gruff, aggressive or melodic and so it goes.
The CD begins with a nice set of melodies reminiscent of Rainbow plus Oriental rhythms. Then it is onto thrash metal a la Metallica, especially given the gruff vocals, but with more melody. When singer Ross Thompson goes "yeah yeah yeaaaahhhhh" it is as if James Hetfield himself is yelling on the song The Awakening. Elsewhere on the album the singing is more melodic and the hard rock is mixed with quieter moments. There is not a full-time keyboardist in Deadly Sin, but one unfortunately finds lots of electronica meshed into the songs. Two worthwhile songs are Slave which has some nice rocking melodies with frantic drumming and soloing and the album's closer To Fall Asleep with its rocking riffing, warm guitar melodies and vocal phrasing. - Ali "The Metallian"
