History & Biography When it comes to down picking, a female singer who takes a back seat to no one, and certainly to no male, and a sharp sound, Tacoma, Washington, USA-based thrashers Denial Of Life have the formula down pat. Members had been friends for a decade upon formation. Influenced by Sacrilege, Logan recruited singer Brenna into the project. Next in was Nick Cody. The band was first heard through a self-titled demo in the closing hours of 2019. The follow-up demo was called Scheming To Suffer and was issued in 2021. The band was billed as D.O.L. here. The US tour ended with a stolen van in Los Angeles. A full-length demo was called No Reason in mid-summer of 2022. The song Cruzified was hotter than hell. The band was on tour in Canada earlier that year. The band played a show in Oregon, USA called Northwest Hardcore Fest to begin 2024. Witness The Power was the 2025 EP and was released through Creator-Destructor Records. Brian Bernard was listed on bass. Darkest Hour booked a European headlining tour for September and October 2025. Opening were Bleeding Through, Shai Halud and Denial Of Life. The band was in Canada alongside Gatecreeper, Eternal and Dying Remains in the spring of 2026.
Death's Scream Bloody Gore album contained a song called Denial Of Life.
Reviews DENIAL OF LIFE - WITNESS THE POWER - CREATOR-DESTRUCTOR
I neither want to nor know how to get in-depth about this little-known band and its unheralded EP. All I know is that singer Brenna, and the three (sometimes four) ink models standing and sitting behind and around her, have delivered some of the most fucking savage, forthright, righteous crossover/thrash metal I have ever heard. Admire D.R.I. (from when they were vital)? Heard the opening cut, Witness The Power, and told yourself that Slayer could only wish they'd written something this good this century (heck, those drum fills are worth the price of the EP alone)? Worship at the altar of Power Trip and dug Riley Gale's delivery because you just knew in your bones that the man was the real deal/stood for something/sang with conviction/insert superlative phrase here? Thought nobody could deliver on the brawn like a distorted version of Sick Of It All at its prime? Then let's stop wasting time writing or reading reviews, and instead hit play on this EP in order to witness the meaning of 'effectiveness' in music. The guitarist has some of the most effective and straightforward sounds anywhere. OK, fine, I'll quickly mention here that Love Sting is not only a suspiciously Scorpions-esque title, but the track itself shows a hard-rocking vibe, which is another element of Denial Of Life that surprises (although the band's earlier full-length pulled the same thing).
If there is any justice in this world, Denial Of Life is going to be huge. After all, the album's title could be taken literally. In other words, you guessed it, we all know it, they are fucked.
P.S. More often than not, here at the Metallian Towers, we mock, deride and laugh at bands and labels because they have given up on even a half-hearted attempt to promote or publicize their music. This, though, is one of those times when we remember that the joke is a bad one. - Ali "The Metallian"
