History & Biography
Bulgaria is an unusual setting for a one-woman funeral doom band, but Destruction Of Orion was founded there - with a black graphite guitar in hand - in 2023. Decreasing Brightness was a demo in 2024. It was a self-cover version and rerecorded for Aesthetic Death two years later. States Of Horror of 2025 was reissued by Aesthetic Death in late 2026. States Of Horror explored disturbing themes of mental disorder. Somewhat reminiscent of Colosseum's Chapter 3, the album featured multiple guests behind the microphone. Spasova happened to be a fan of Colosseum. Subsequently, Aesthetic Death announced a new album for Destruction Of Orion released through the label in late November of 2026. It was called Dimensions Of Chaos.

Orion is a constellation in the northern sky, which is visible in the winter. Orion is named after a hunter in Greek mythology.

Reviews

DESTRUCTION OF ORION - STATES OF HORROR - AESTHETIC DEATH
It is funeral doom metal alright. It is 55 minutes long. It is not a clone, but it does remind the listener of Colosseum or Disembowelment. More importantly, it has all the hallmarks of the genre. Given the solid compositions, delivery, including deep growls, and production, it is difficult to fathom how a lone female is responsible for it all. There are a few elements a metal fan could do without, like the elf-like chants, Melancholy's classical vibe and the occasional piano clanging, but this is by and large displaying fidelity to the sub-genre and quality.
The sad beginning is all melancholy and dismal vibes. The vocals, as mentioned, are deep and the music veers toward the atmosphere and ferocity of Autrest, but more often it is about drawn-out melodies within an understated and layered construction - just what the subgenre ordered. It is not so much lethargic as it is contemplative, withdrawn and introspective, as if the soul has been darkened and saddened by the world around us, which in Destruction Of Orion's case, it has. On more than one track there is a cartoonish yet wicked laughter. Not sure what to make of these. Either way, the vocals are secondary - despite the presence of those deep growls - as they often are in bands which are either solo acts or are helmed by a multi-instrumentalist. The spoken-word outro adds another element of mystery. And speaking of which, here is another: the lengthy songs never feel as long as they are.
States Of Horror has two gears: sad and sadder and in each mode conveys its dismal reality to the fullest. This is good music for when one is sad and wants to stay that way. - Ali "The Metallian"

Interviews
Tehina Spasova of DESTRUCTION OF ORION
She calls herself "awkward" and is unassuming. She describes herself as "introverted" and specializes in short answers. In the run-up to the interview, she requested a text-only conversation, with no video involved. Here is Tehina Spasova, the person behind the funeral doom act Destruction Of Orion, sitting in one of smaller of the gardens at Metallian Towers, being interviewed by Ali "The Metallian". - 27.09.2026

METALLIAN: Welcome to Metallian Towers. Tehina, tell me about your upbringing. Were you a proverbial blonde, blue-eyed girl innocently running through fields of daisies or were you a rebellious, sometimes forlorn child damaged to no end?
TEHINA: I was born in the Bulgarian town of Blagoevgrad. I wouldn’t say that I was running through fields. I’ve always felt unwanted among my peers. I’ve never understood why. But as the years passed by, I guess I became too disappointed to even try. This made me quite introverted.

METALLIAN: Fast-forward many years, tell me about the genesis and formation of Destruction Of Orion.
TEHINA: I decided to start the project at a very difficult time. I’d say it saved me. I just woke up one morning and said to myself: ‘You know what? I’m gonna do this.’

METALLIAN: Which year was this?
TEHINA: It was 2023.

METALLIAN: Are you the 'Orion' in Destruction Of Orion?
TEHINA: Yes. You’re the first person to realise it.

METALLIAN: As far as I can tell, you are credited with everything. This implies you had prior experience. If so, where did the experience come from and, either way, did you receive assistance from anyone along the way.
TEHINA: I have no prior experience at all. It took me almost a year to learn how to do this. At the very beginning, I received some technical help from fellow recording artists. It was too personal to include anybody else.

METALLIAN: Particularly, the growls are interesting. They belie the fact that a female is behind them.
TEHINA: I guess it shouldn’t be that surprising considering that more and more female performers are able to achieve such vocals in extreme metal bands.

METALLIAN: I respectfully disagree. I would say nine times out of ten one can distinguish whether the growls are a man's or a woman's. Elsewhere, there are background creepy sounds or voices throughout the album. What are they meant to represent?
TEHINA: Everything’s a part of the atmosphere I intend to provide. They’re feelings, turmoils, chaos.

METALLIAN: That last sentence could serve as a synopsis for the whole affair, couldn't it? Another source of mystery is the spoken outro. Could you elaborate?
TEHINA: I suppose you’re referring to the outro of ‘Decreasing Brightness’? It’s about a personal crisis, though it's open to interpretation.

METALLIAN: OK, so let's change the line of questioning. How did you get to work with Aesthetic Death and will the album versions be any different or identical?
TEHINA: Aesthetic Death discovered me by accident. We share the same values. The album versions will be identical.

METALLIAN: Do you like to live pro bono? Surely there is no material profit in what you do.
TEHINA: I do not care about profit. I discovered the need to create while trying to make myself feel better.

METALLIAN: Did it work? Do you feel better? It feels to me as if the music is meant to keep the listener sad.
TEHINA: I do feel better for some time after a recording. I pour everything into the music.

METALLIAN: Speaking of recording, what can you say about the Silent Deep Ocean project?
TEHINA: I saw a post in some group about this project looking for a vocalist. I’ve never been more than a guest vocalist there. We shared some good times and eventually moved on.

METALLIAN: Speaking of other bands, which ones are the best out there that you'd call your favourites?
TEHINA: Colosseum is definitely my favourite. I’m also very fond of Lethargy Of Death, My Shameful, Ankhagram, 1000 Funerals and Man Of Sorrows.

METALLIAN: Which band died too early?
TEHINA: Definitely Colosseum.

METALLIAN: And which band should never have existed?
TEHINA: I respect every person’s taste in music.

METALLIAN: Even Nickelback? Anyway, I think of you ten years from now. Am I looking at a star blazing brightly on the metal scene or a forgotten name from the past?
TEHINA: Hardly a blazing star. It’s a niche genre, and it’s not why the project exists.

METALLIAN: In that case, what is next? Could you tell the readers if there is any news or if you have any plans otherwise?
TEHINA: The release of the third album is scheduled for November 27th. No other plans at the moment. We’ll go from there.

METALLIAN: What can you tell me about the third album?
TEHINA: About the third album... Its name is Dimensions Of Chaos. After States Of Horror was released, it took me a couple of months to cool down. Then I made a track with the intention to slowly make a third album. But I just left it like that and decided not to work on it for at least a year due to personal issues. Then I got contacted by Aesthetic Death. We communicated a bit, and I really liked what the label stood for, so I decided to do it after all. I felt inspired and motivated. Dimensions Of Chaos is literally about inner chaos. It's about this constant battle within - of emotions, hope and desperation. The atmosphere is slightly different, though I kept it within the range of my style. It'll be released on both CD and vinyl.

METALLIAN: Thanks for sharing the news, Tehina. Before ending this talk, everyone shares the opinion that Metallian is the only source for metal that matters. Why do you agree?
TEHINA: Reading your stuff invokes a background of singing angels.
