History & Biography
Italian singer Marco Concoreggi stood up Dexter Ward in 2010, as he wound down his work with the Greece-based Battleroar. The singer was using the Mark Dexter alias and used the title for a H.P. Lovecraft story from 1927 as the monicker for the band. Alongside Dexter Ward was guitarist Manolis who had also come from Battleroar. The two would not elaborate on their reason for leaving Battleroad, which hinted at acrimony. The first release was the three-song Promo 2010. Despite the monicker, it utilised a modern logo. The same year brought the Antarctic Dream EP through Iron On Iron Records. Oddly, the title track was a Hyrkanian Blades song. This act was Dexter's earlier band and the song had already been recorded by Battleroar. H.P. Lovecraft had had a story called At The Mountains Of Madness taking place in Antarctica. The band was singer Mark Dexter, guitarists Manolis Karazeris (also a Battleroar refugee and an organizer for the Up The Hammers festival) and Akis Pastras, bassist John Luna Tsimas and drummer Angelos Tsoukalas. The last four were Greek nationals.

A couple of demo tracks made it onto the band's debut album, Neon Lights. There was an American vibe to the album. A few songs appeared on the split with the Greece-based power metal band Black Soul Horde. In the meantime, Dexter Ward had a single called Stars And Stripes. A Metallian Towers' serf appeared on the cover of Rendezvous With Destiny. The theme of 'light' continued through a song called Metal For The Light. There was also a song called We Are Dexter Ward, which referenced "rock and roll." Either way, Stelios Darakis was drumming. The band was booked for the Up The Hammers Festival X in 2015. Moreover, Dexter Ward was on the bill for Keep It True XIX in 2016. The band took 2018 off in order for members to focus on other bands and life's priorities.

III was issued in March of 2020. An advance single called Return Of The Blades had previewed the act's new logo. Guitarist Pastras engineered. The band uploaded a cover version of the Heavy Load song Saturday Night in 2021. Guitarist Karazeris was in a Heavy Load cover band Heathens From The North. Dexter Ward was billed for the Up The Hammers Festival in 2022. Mark Dexter also joined Greece-based act Ringlorn in 2024. No new Dexter Ward music emerged despite songs having been written. The band appeared at the Up The Hammers Festival warm up show in 2026.
