History & Biography
Disincarnate was James Murphy's attempt at playing in his own band for a change. The band played death metal. There were reports of a second album, but plans were either shelved or postponed due to Murphy's illness. Murphy also claimed to owe Roadrunner money as a result of this album and obliged to pay them from the proceeds of his work with other bands. Dreams Of The Carrion Kind had not made him money; rather, it had cost him money. Murphy said that because Roadrunner decided not to release him after learning that Testament wanted him, he was put under a “suspension contract.” If he left Testament, he would still have to repay the advances and Roadrunner could recoup the debt from money he earned with Testament. Murphy would later have a brain tumor that would change his life and force him to be on medicine for the rest of his life. He was diagnosed in 2001 and underwent emergency surgery. Murphy kept writing and demoing and was hopeful that the act could be resurrected. At one point, Tomas Lindberg of At The Gates was rumoured to be joining on the mike. The debut album's line-up was together again and working on a new album in 2013. Nothing happened. Tomas Viator died in 2024.
