Reviews DRAGSHOLM - FROM THE BLOODLINES OF BRAM - HORROR PAIN GORE DEATH
This is a good slab of black and death metal, but it should have grabbed me more than it did. Initially, it was perplexing me why From The Bloodlines Of Bram was not resonating with me more, but I think the reason lies in the dichotomy, and difference in quality, between the band's two styles. The heavy riffs are just okay. Speed riffs are best. Hear Crosses Drowned In Blood and it's a great title. The heavy riffs are not bad, but they are not particularly memorable either. the best either. The drums could be more inventive, but again perform better when going fast. The weakness becomes apparent when the band slows down and the simplicity of the songwriting works against them. The vocals are stronger when fewer effects are applied. Much appreciation goes to the band's devotion to the true underground. Think of Dragsholm as Benediction meets Marduk with some Edge Of Sanity vocals and atmosphere blended in. - Anna Tergel
