History & Biography
The band was founded by Rami Keränen in late 1998 when his previous band Hardware broke down. The immediate release was a demo called Shadow Of The Frozen Sun. The band being Finnish, Rami had to inject keyboards himself in addition to handling the vocals and guitars. In Finland, schools teach all children instruments like piano, accordion and the kantele, which the boys and girls carry on with them into adulthood. This has led to many musicians forming pop and folk bands when they grow up. Refuge From Reality was the 2000 demo. The act played its first concert as the opener for Sinergy in the summer of 2000. The floodgates opened and members came and members went.

Spinefarm snatched the band and released its debut album in 2002. The story went that the band’s demos had found an audience in Japan and the Avalon label had contacted Spinefarm to inform it of a willingness to licence the material for Japan. Beyond Reality featured new material and the songs from the 2000 demo. As mentioned, keyboard players are everywhere in Finland and Turkka Vuorinen had joined the band. Rami missed a couple of days of studio time in order to be at the hospital. Eino Tuominen (the webmaster for Dreamtale's website) joined Blind Stare in 2002. This band recorded a demo in Beyond Realitys rehearsal space. Ocean's Heart was issued a year later. The line-up had changed and Tomi Viiltola was on vocals. Band members would keep on coming and going consistently going forward making Dreamtale a musical taxi. Tomi would leave because he lived several hundred kilometres away. The act was booked for Sauna Open Air in 2004 and again in 2005.

Difference came in early 2005. Jarkko Ahola left the band reporting that he wanted to concentrate on his main band, Teräsbetoni. The next album, however, required a new label and the band found the indie label, Motley. Phoenix featured a rising unicorn on its cover instead. Erkki Seppänen was on vocals. Seppo Kolehmainen had replaced Esa on guitar. Arto Pitkänen and Akseli Kaasalainen were in too. The Epsilon album was in reality a demo that was licensed to a couple of territories. Bassist Pasi Ristolainen left citing a lack of motivation. Heikki Ahonen was on bass and Petteri Rosenbom sat on the drum stool again. He had originally left citing a lack of time and also motivation. His immediate replacement, Rolf Pilve, was a session player who had not stayed long. The band lost keyboardist Vuorinen claiming the man had simply vanished. World Changed Forever was also an independent release. Album number seven, Seventhian ...Memories Of Time, was supported through a video for the song October Is Mine. Janne Juutinen was on drums. The group was able to fly in order to play concerts in China and Taiwan. The band presented new songs and also hopped on the self-cover version trend with a second included disc. Indeed, Memories Of Time was the name of a song on the band’s debut. The band was announced for Nummirock Metal Festival 2019. Zsolt Szilágyi was the new guitarist while Mikko Hepo-oja (Catamenia) became the bassist in 2019. Sleeping Beauty was a 2019 upload, but a new record only emerged in 2022. Everlasting Flame was a self-produced demo. Arto Pitkänen was back on drums. Nitte Valo (Battle Beast) was the new second vocalist. Dreamtale was booked for Tuska Open Air 2023, where the band had played in 2013, and the On The Rocks in Helsinki, Finland with Psychework and Scars Of Solitude in 2023. Dreamtale released a single called Battleheart in 2024 in advance of a studio album set to be released in 2025.

Dreamtale is also a story book and animation since 2016 that is unrelated to the band. The band likes to remember its formation as dating back to 1999 these days.
