History & Biography Earthcorpse has it roots in 1989 and the band Insurrection, which reformed in 2009, whose hardcore delivery had a home in Peaceville. A demo called Dark Heaven was recorded in 1991. A 12' called Mephitis is recorded and released on LePage's Grave Records. In 1993 the band appears on Shiver Records’ Sometimes Death Is Better and consequently signed to the label for two records. John replaced Paul on bass at this point. Robert replaced Matt after the recording of Born Bleeding. In 2000 drummer Justin left the band after eight years and was replaced by Daz. The band returned to its own Grave Records and released a promo CD single which continued the band's death/doom tradition. The band hailed from the isolated island of Guernsey.
Reviews EARTHCORPSE - THE TASTE OF SIN - SHIVER
Based out of a small island on the channel between France and England, the five piece formerly known as Insurrection and signed to Peaceville, has put out a CD very much similar to My Dying Bride and Anathema. This should instantly tell you that I don't like it. You'd be right, except for the fact that the band keep things completely 'metal' by excluding such idiotic gimmicks as K&F (keyboards and Female Vocals), top hats and corporate face paint. The music is rather simplistic and maintains its plodding pace until near the end where a track tagged to the end ventures into the industrial, but despite the somewhat weaker vocals the Taste of Sin should not be too bad a choice for fans of the British doom sound. Otherwise worth mentioning is the well thought out/ attractive CD booklet enclosed. - Ali "The Metallian"
