History & Biography
Sure, every country has one or two Epitaphs running around, but Italy-based Epitaph and its doom metal was one of the earlier ones having been formed in 1988. The rhythm section and founders had come from the bands Black Hole and Sacrilege. The band's song Farewell To Blind Men was, in fact, a medley of several Black Hole songs. The band lasted six years before the - no surprise - reformation, which came in 2007. The band had several demos, The Lord Of Evil, Sacred And Profane and Mental Walls during its first iteration. The band claimed the reunion was at first for the members to jam together and have fun with a few friends before things turned more serious.

The second iteration gave the band an album in 2014. It was called Crawling Out Of The Crypt. The album featured several early Epitaph compositions. Early bassist and singer Giampi Tomezzoli had returned for the reformation (on bass only), but left in 2011. The band was on High Roller, which had worked with Black Hole before. The group appeared on the Death SS tribute, Terror Tales. Epitaph conducted the Pacto The Sangre tour of Europe in 2017. Bootleg From The Crypt was a live demo in 2022. Blakk Old Blood, Bokkerijders, Epitaph and others had a concert together in February of 2025. Doom metal band Epitaph picked Chilean man Felipe Plaza Kutzbach (Procession, Deströyer 666, Scald, etc.) as its newest vocalist in 2025.

Epitaph has appeared at Hammer Of Doom (2014), Heavy Days In Doomtown (2015), Muskelrock (2015) and Roadburn (2016). Emiliano's early band All Souls' Day was the act of guitarist and bassist Andrea Picchi after he departed Epitaph. He would later switch over to Epitaph after playing with the ex-Epitaph man.
