Reviews EROTIC PSYCHO – THE LOST BOYZ – ART GATES Ho ho ho it’s X-Mas time for girls into sleaze, glam and hard rock. Cool musicians like The Lost Boyz are as scarce as sexy bankers and Erotic Psycho’s full-length arrives not one minute too soon. These guys hail from Spain, but could have been walking down the street on their way to climb the stage in 1985. Bonus ladies: all four gents have sexy long hair too.
Firstly, what does the cool foursome sound like? Take a pinch of Ratt, a pinch of Vain and add two pinches of Poison and voila: Erotic Psycho. The band has the sound, looks and chops down and is only slightly let down by the sound of the album. The production is good, and possibly deliberately thin to come across as vintage, but a thicker sound would have made these anthems that much anthemier. The lyrics are about girls, boobs, attitude and rock and roll. The guitarist can deploy a shred, but doesn’t. Too bad. Sweet Suicide and Suite In Hell (the band stayed at Holiday Inn one time) have solos. Speaking of Suite In Hell it begins with hillbilly strumming and soon turns into a Guns ‘N Roses tune. Stinky Boy Blues is so Poison. Rock’N’Roll Is Not (You Are) is a cheeky title, but praising rock & roll is tiresome already. Mainstream Whore has the album’s juiciest riffs, drums and guitars. Glam is the name of the game, baby! And EP has it. Go find the boys. – Sheila Wes Det
