History & Biography
Excruciating Terror was a death/grind band based in Los Angeles, California, USA that was active between 1990 and 1997 and again beginning 2013. Dino Cazares was a member of the band for several weeks in 1990, but left to co-found the precursor to Fear Factory. Vision Of Terror was a 1991 demo. Torched Records released a 7" called Legacy Of Hate in 1992. This 7” actually had a song called Visions Of Terror. The band was also heard on a compilation 7”.

The short grinding songs found a home on a debut album, called Expression Of Pain, in 1996. It was recorded in 1995. The band was comprised of singer Victor Garcia, guitarists Raul Caballero (who was the founder of cover versions’ CD label Dwell Records and who later on bass after he had left the fold and returned) and Jerry Flores and drummer Martin Alvarado. Nausea’s Frank Espinoza was a guest bassist. A second album was recorded and released in 1997. A live single taped in 1996 was called Live At Gilman. It appeared in 1997. The venue was in San Francisco.

Excruciating Terror reunited for a tribute to Jesse Pintado of Terrorizer, Napalm Death, Lock Up and Brujeria. The concert also featured a headlining appearance by Repulsion as well as appearances by Sadistic Intent, Nausea and Resistant Culture in Los Angeles on September 14th 2013. The band reformed in 2013, played at Maryland Deathfest in 2014 and released Live At Maryland Deathfest 14' in 2015. Fivel Perez had joined on bass. Mardin Martinez was on second guitar. The band was to play in New York to coincide with its Maryland Deathfest appearance, but ended up cancelling. A couple of East Coast USA concerts were then booked for 2015 instead. Legacy Of Terror Sessions put together some old material for release in 2017. It took half a dozen imprints to put together the Excruciating Terror/Soil of Ignorance split of 2020. The band's side included live material.
